I Dare You To Live
Zach Sobiech is a 17 year old boy who was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma, around his 14th birthday. The good guys at Soul Pancake took a shining to the Zach as he fought against cancer, and lived audaciously. In his last days, they captured moments of Zach creating and sharing his music with the world, finding closure, embracing life, and spending each and every moment doing what he loved, with the people he loved most.
Watching Zach’s story brought me to tears. Each and every day, we wake up and think of all the things that we could be doing better, the obligations we have, or our shortcomings… Not enough money, not enough cars, not enough this, or that. And sometimes we focus on the lack so much that we forget to focus on the abundant. We forget to appreciate the little things. We forget to have faith. We forget to appreciate the blessings. We forget to forgive. We forget to smile at our youth, at our silliness. We forget to move without second guessing. We forget to love. We forget to live.
Zach passed away yesterday, May 20th, a mere 17 days after his 18th birthday. He lived. And now, I dare you to.
